What is the Bayou City Art Festival - Downtown?

It is an interactive outdoor art festival for people of all ages and is one of the largest juried fine art festivals in the nation. The two-day festival features the works of over 200 artists, food trucks, two entertainment stages, a craft beer garden, a boutique wine garden, an Art Bar, and an Active Imagination Zone. The outdoor event offers visitors the opportunity to meet with exhibiting artists, view original works from 19 art disciplines, and purchase world-class art, prints, jewelry, sculptures, and more at prices for everyone.

When is the Bayou City Art Festival - Downtown happening?

Saturday and Sunday, October 9-10, 2021. Gates open at 10 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. Bayou City Art Festival is a rain or shine event.

What is the price for admission?

Online pre-purchased tickets are required to enter the festival. Tickets will not be sold at the gate. Purchased General Admission tickets can be used for entry on either Saturday or Sunday.

Adult General Admission tickets are available at an “Early Bird” discounted rate of $15 until September 24, 2021, after which the cost of admission will be $18 for adults. For children, 6-12 tickets are $5 and children five and under are free. You can purchase your online tickets here

*Tickets purchased for the canceled 2020 Bayou City Art Festival - Memorial Park can be exchanged for entry at the gate.

Where is the festival and where can I park?

Bayou City Art Festival will take place in Downtown Houston at Sam Houston Park and along Allen Parkway. There are 3 entrance gates for the festival, and they have been color-coded to provide easier distinction for patrons.

  1. The Blue Gate – Located near the intersection of Bagby Street and Lamar Street

  2. The Green Gate – Located near the intersection of Bagby Street and Dallas Street

  3. The Orange Gate – Located on Allen Parkway just west of Sabine Street.

On-site parking for the festival is not available. On-street meter parking, surface parking lots, and garage parking are available for a fee in Downtown Houston.

Consider ridesharing! The designated ride-sharing drop-off/pick-up point is located at the corner of Bagby Street and Dallas Street.

What is Bayou City Art Festival doing about COVID-19?

Bayou City Art Festival is an outdoor event and encourages all patrons to wear a mask, practice social distancing, and wash their hands often. Hand sanitizing stations will be available in all areas of the festival. While masks are not required at the festival, it is up to the discretion of each exhibiting artist to require masks within their individual booth and we ask patrons to comply with any requests to do so. Producers of the festival will follow the suggestions and safety guidelines set forth by the City of Houston, and the CDC. If ticket holders have been recently exposed to COVID-19, or if they are feeling sick or ill, we ask that they stay home. 

Does the festival benefit local nonprofit organizations?

Yes! A portion of the proceeds from Bayou City Art Festival Downtown will benefit six local charities. Each nonprofit provides volunteers and has the option to host a crafting station in the Active Imagination Zone. The six nonprofit partners benefiting from the 2021 Bayou City Art Festival - Downtown include ArtReach, A Cause to Give Us Paws, Artists For Artists, Fresh Arts, Orange Show For Visionary Art, and The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

Who is the featured artist?

McKenzie Fisk, a painter from Los Angeles, is the featured artist for the 2021 Bayou City Art Festival - Downtown. You can learn more about Fisk here.

Do you have VIP tickets?

Bayou City Art Festival and Frost Bank are offering a limited availability VIP Hospitality Lounge, which will include a tented oasis with complimentary light bites, beer, wine, and other refreshments. The relaxing setting under a canopy of trees will feature roaming musicians, artistic décor, a phone charging station, and more. Is there food and beverages available at the festival? 

Yes, there is a large food truck park located at the west end of the festival and a variety of other food and beverage vendors on site.

What can I bring to the festival?

You can bring blankets, sunscreen, mosquito spray, hats, sunglasses, and umbrellas. You are also allowed to bring strollers, wagons, and wheelchairs, but keep in mind there will be large crowds.

What can I not bring?

For everyone to have a fun and worry-free day, please refrain from bringing the following prohibited items into the festival: Pets (service animals only), outside food or beverages, skateboards, hoverboards, scooters, rollerblades, laser pointers, fireworks, weapons, guns, pocket knives, drones or any flying toys.

Are there restrooms available? 

Yes, portable facilities are located throughout the festival grounds.

Do you have ATMs at the festival?

No. Bayou City Art Festival is a cashless event. 

Where is EMS located at the festival? 

EMS is centrally located at the site or you may ask a festival staff representative with a radio for assistance with an emergency.

Event programs will be distributed at the gate.

Smoking is prohibited on festival grounds.

Pets are not allowed, with the exception of official service animals. Documentation may be required.
 
Please be respectful. Do not film or photograph any artist, or their work, without their consent and permission.
 
Everyone is subject to security search, and bag checks upon entry.

Uniformed Police Officers and Private Security will be onsite at all times.

Ticket Holders are asked to drink responsibly. Bayou City Art Festival reserves the right to deny entry/remove patrons, without compensation or refund, who are displaying offensive, disorderly, or dangerous behavior.
