An arts and entertainment destination for the entire family, the Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park offers a fun filled day of art, entertainment, food, wine and beer featuring the popular Green Mountain Energy Children’s Creative Zone and introducing the KHOU11 Student Art Park.
Art Colony Association’s 3rd Annual Middle School Art Competition continues the tradition of education initiatives offered by and in partnership with the Bayou City Art Festival. Middle school age students from Greater Houston area school districts are invited to submit 2-D works to be juried by distinguished local artists, gallery owners and art enthusiasts.
The 30 Finalists chosen from over 300 entries will have their artwork on display at Memorial City Mall March 10-24th and in the new KHOU11 Student Art Park at the Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park March 27-29th.
Art Colony Association presents cash prizes, art supply certificates and scholarships to 4 winners and their schools. In addition, every student artist who submitted a piece in the competition receives tickets for themselves, their parents and their teachers to attend the Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park 2015.
The Emerging Artist Program (EAP) presents promising Houston area high school students an exceptional opportunity to experience the business of being a professional artist.
Students will create large scale, 3-D, site specific, outdoor public art works to be on exhibit in the KHOU11 Student Art Park, interact with talented artists, and experience an official jury process. Art Colony Association provides funding for both the art materials and the space to display the artwork at Bayou City Art Festival Memorial Park 2015.
On the final day of the festival, the students’ sculptures will be judged along with over 400 professional festival artists, and awarded for extraordinary artwork by our official festival judges, who are community leaders, art curators and art enthusiasts. The top three Emerging Artist Program sculptures will win cash prizes for themselves and art supply gift certificates for their schools.
